Each class is taught by one of our professional, local chefs in our cooking space - the Marketplace. Classes are small, with only 20 students or less, and feature either hands-on instruction  or demostration style (please see below) with tips and tricks from the professional kitchen. After the class, the students  sit down to enjoy the evening's creations.

*Please let us know if you have any allergies, classes are not recommended for a vegetarian diet unless otherwise stated. This is not a nut-free environment.*

Knitting 101 - Sept. 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register Activity #13558, Fee - $55

Grab some friends. Pour a drink. Let's get knitting! Want to learn to knit but don't know where to start? Attend one of our modern knit workshops.

Receive two hours of hands-on instruction on the very basics of knitting: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch and binding off. You will also learn how to read a yarn label and knitting patterns. With these foundational skills you will be able to create a variety of your own cozy modern knits. By the end of the class, we will get started on your very first project - a modern, wide-knit headband.

Each participant will receive a knit kit with all the materials needed to get started, a glass of wine and appetizers, not to mention a pretty awesome time out to meet people, mingle and make stuff!

Local Brews & Fall Food - Sept. 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register Activity #12212

Fall has arrived! Cozy up with a local brew and comfort food. Our chef will be teaching some classic fall favorites that you can easily make at home.

Feasting Vegan - Plant Based Recipes - Oct. 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register Activity 13817 *FULL*

Eating a plant-based diet is good for your body and good for the environment! If you are a practicing vegan and would like some recipe inspo, or if you are curious about what the 'vegan lifestyle' would look like for you, this is the perfect class! We will discuss practical vegan options for a fully balanced diet, talk about the importance of superfoods, and will demonstrate 3 fully vegan recipes. After the class, sit down to feast on these delicious dishes with the group!

Tasty Thai - Oct. 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register Activity #13954 *FULL*

Thai dishes are created using many different elements in a harmonious way to create a full dish. Although it sounds complex, the ingredients are simple and healthy! Come in and learn about all of the different components of Thai cuisine, and leave with recipes for some of your favorite meals from Thailand.

Thai dishes are created using many different elements in a harmonious way to create a full dish. Many of the ingredients used in Thai cooking complement a vegetarian diet, so this is the perfect combination of lifestyle and cuisine! Although it sounds complex, the ingredients are simple and healthy. Come in and learn about all of the different components of Thai cuisine, and leave with recipes for some of your favorite vegetarian meals from Thailand.

Vegan Indian Cuisine - Nov. 8, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register Activity #14100

Indian food can be spicy, sweet, sour, buttery and salty - but most importantly it can be vegan. For certified delicious vegan dishes look no further: our Market chef will take you through a hands on culinary class featuring the ever-versatile vegan star - the chickpea! At the end of the night, sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor: a 3 course meal.

Build Your Own Charcuterie Board - Nov. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register Activity #14093

Charcuterie boards are the best way to kick off a dinner party - and now you can show off the insider knowledge you will learn in this hands-on class. Our chef will lead you through the classic components of a charcuterie board, some local delicacies you can get right at the Kitchener Market, and demonstrate how to layout your pieces to compose a beautiful board! Each participant will setup and sample their own board throughout the duration of this class.

Gluten Free for the Holidays - Nov. 23, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Register Activity #14091

The holidays are a time for families and friends to come together and share their time and their food. However, for those who are gluten free or allergen free, the holidays can also represent a very stressful time. Often they themselves are overwhelmed with the burden of attending many family meals with no safe food options available. The goal for this session is to teach participants the basics of understanding the gluten free diet, cross contamination procedures and tasty recipes that can help reduce the stress of hosting holiday dinners.

Each participant leaves with a recipe and with a take home meal container full of great gluten free goodness!

Join Emerie Brine a canning specialist from Bernardin, for a highly entertaining demonstration on how to preserve fruits and vegetables all year long. Bernardin Home Canning products are the gold standard in home preserving, learn how to use them safely at home.

Girls' Night Out: DIY Sign Making and Wine - Nov. 30, 6-8:30 p.m. Register Activity #13981, Fee $55

DIY is all the rage this holiday season, so grab your friends, dress for a mess and get ready to get hands on with Rescued Relics! During this DIY workshop, you will have the option to choose between 3 wooden holiday signs to create:

Enjoy a glass of wine and receive 2.5 hours of hands-on instruction on the basics of rustic wooden sign making: the construction of it and painting techniques including stenciling and distressing. With these basic skills, you will not only be able to create your own signs from home, but get to leave with a beautifully designed wooden Holiday sign for your own home or as a gift for a friend, if you can part with it!

Each participant will receive all the materials needed to compete their sign, including wood, stencils and paint. *Please note we do not use stain in these workshops, as stain can take anywhere from 4-8 hours to dry.*

Gather up your girlfriends and stop in for a fun night of cocktail and appetizer making. Learn how to impress your holiday guests and mix cocktails like a pro with the recipes you'll learn in this informative, hands-on cooking class!
