A program designed to inspire and teach your young home cooks. They will learn new skills and abilities to help them continue their culinary journey. Your kids can cook up a storm, make a mess and learn how to clean it up! Taught by our in-house chef, these classes are a great way to get your kids into the kitchen. They will have fun in a kitchen setting and enjoy something they had a hand in making themselves. Visit our event calendar to find the next date and theme for your chef-in-training. You can also take part in our monthly Kids in the Kitchen open house where parents get a chance to learn more and young participants will be able to try out the program at a reduced cost. Most Kids in the Kitchen programs are designed for youth age 8 to 12 years old. Sharp knives and cooking heat may be involved.

An online version of our popular cooking classes that can be enjoyed by the whole family, right in your own home and on your schedule. See the video library on the City of Kitchener's Facebook page.

Kids in the Kitchen camp

Our hands-on camp brings everything your kids love about the Kids in the Kitchen program to a week-long camp! We encourage campers (aged 8 – 12) to roll up their sleeves, get messy and make new friends.

In this camp, your little chefs will learn about basic cooking, nutrition, food preparation and more. They’ll also have the chance to do crafts and spend time with their fellow campers. Each junior cook will receive an apron to take home at the end of the week.

We encourage families to register early, as spaces fill up quickly.

Class topics include: local produce, cooking techniques, table setting, etiquette and cooking staples.

Summer camp

Please see our event calendar for Summer Camp dates.

*Update: Our July & August Summer Camp dates are currently sold out. We will be looking at adding an additional week so please add yourself to the waitlist if you are interested in joining another week.
