Virtual Kids in The Kitchen is an online version of our popular cooking classes that can be enjoyed by the whole family, right in your own home. Chef Nicole welcomes you into her kitchen every Saturday in June from 10 - 11 a.m. See the details in our event calendar

In our free Kids in the Kitchen classes, your kids can cook up a storm, make a mess and learn how to clean it up! Taught by our in-house chef, these classes are a great way to get your kids into the kitchen. They will have fun in a kitchen setting and enjoy something they had a hand in making themselves.

We offer this free program up to two Saturdays a month in the Marketplace kitchen on the upper level of the Kitchener Market. Check our event calendar for upcoming classes! There is no registration required, so drop in while you’re at the market!

Kids in the Kitchen camp

Our hands-on camp brings everything your kids love about the Kids in the Kitchen program to a week-long camp! We encourage campers (aged 7 – 12) to roll up their sleeves, get messy and make new friends.

In this camp, your little chefs will learn about basic cooking, nutrition, food preparation and more. They’ll also have the chance to do crafts and spend time with their fellow campers. Each junior cook will receive an apron to take home at the end of the week.

We encourage families to register early, as spaces fill up quickly.

Class topics include: local produce, cooking techniques, table setting, etiquette and cooking staples.

Summer camp

City of Kitchener camps cannot proceed in the same format as they have in previous years given new constraints imposed by the COVID-19 situation. As a result, summer camp programs are cancelled. The City of Kitchener refunds will occur automatically. Staff are working to process refunds as soon as possible. Due to the volume of refunds there may be some delays.

The City is exploring alternative summer camp programming options that would maintain physical distancing measures, social gathering guidelines and other protocols, should the provincial government allow day camp programming to resume.
